These 2 hour classes run every two weeks February through March, 1-3pm.

Please come with 2+ years of earnest yoga practice with a curiosity to move from a place of listening and inquiry.

You will need your own mat, and whilst I bring blocks, blankets and belts, if you have equipment that you can rely on and that works for you in your home practice, please bring it.

The hall will be open from 12:45 pm, when you are invited to come and arrive into the space quietly beforehand.

Schedule of Classes:

Feb 13 : The Space Between / the 8 diaphragms
Diaphragms help to separate spaces. Our physical reality is supported with a series of these doorways between bone and bone, bone and connective tissue, and body mass and earth; spaces that are designed to come together and move apart by a variety of hinges, rotations, flexions and extensions.

This class will explore the 8 central diaphragms of the body and their relationships through the lens of yoga and embodied movement practices.

Feb 28 : Opening the Landscape
Humans have the tendency to spend a large portion of time living in the rushing from point A to point B and often miss out on the world around us. The body’s side space gives way to the front and back and offers balance and three dimensional movement, and an opportunity to enjoy the landscape.

We will look at the relationship of front to back, inner to outer, and side to side body in its relationship to our physical understanding of space during this two hour class.

March 12 : The Stairway to Heaven
The spine is a perfectly imperfect structure, and the seat of all movement. It also connects us from the earth to the greater expanse. This extended class will look at the spine and how it moves us. Time will be taken to explore the many directions of spinal movement, the difference between moving from the spine and moving from the distal ends of the body, and how to work with your own spine safely with the right balance of attention and rigour. We’ll look at some common errors in spinal movement and the typical ‘blind spots’ that are worth taking time to see.

March 26 : Fibonacci’s Ferns
Patterns exist everywhere in nature. From the scales of a pineapple to beehives to our own DNA, number sequences shape our physical reality.  With an emphasis on geometry, spirals and structural patterns in our human form, we will take inspiration from nature and its fractals into the asana practice.
