People come to yoga from all walks of life, each with their own battles. Most of the time, underneath the details of the suffering there is a will to be happy, to have less stress. We focus on all kind of external factors – longing for the perfect job, house, yoga pose or partner – thinking that these things will make us happier. What many people don’t realise is that underneath these desires is the true answer to the longing, which is to know the self. In this workshop, the yoga mat becomes your battlefield as we explore the notion of finding happiness – happiness within.
This three hour journey will explore the roots of a transformative yoga practice through the lens of the Bhagavad Gītā, the epic poem about a dialogue between a warrior and his charioteer, Krishna. Breath and movement become tools used to establish a mindful foundation through a fluid asana sequence with the goal of doing less, being more present and equanimous in moving through space and time. We will investigate the concept of skilful action as we deepen into the core space, opening hips, front, back, sides and refined spinal movement.
We each face the daily battle of life. Shri Brahmananda Saraswati said “You have no choice to be a warrior or not, you have to fight. The one choice you have is what kind of warrior you want to be. Either you can be a warrior on the outer level, or you can be a warrior on the inner level.”
The yogi is interested in the inner journey. This workshop will teach you how to fall in love with the journey.
