What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy is a subtle healing touch therapy works with the cerebrospinal fluid found in the spine and throughout the entire body. This fluid is in a continuous rythym and contributes to tissue and organ health when in a balanced flow. When the nervous system has been brought out of balance by daily life stresses or more extreme physical or emotional traumas, the fluid rhythm is also likely disturbed. This often results in headache, fatigue, insomnia, tightness in the jaw, soreness in the body or digestive problems, among other things. Over time, these imbalances accumulate, even playing a role in chronic illness or disease.
The Craniosacral therapist understands the nature of these rhythms and articulations of bones and organs, which each have their unique movement pattern. While providing a safe space for the body and mind, the therapist uses gentle yet specific touch to relax the system and restore balance and calm to the whole person. The results can be profound and lasting, though generally speaking, the best results are found over several sessions spaced anywhere from a few days to a few weeks apart.
